I am presenting/performing at SXSW, Satellite Fair's Performance is Alive, Match 13th, Wednesday, 5pm, Museum of Human Achievement, 3600 Lyons Rd, tickets are $10 for the day. If you are in Austin, please come by for this and to say hello!
Henry G. Sanchez will discuss with Quinn Dukes his social practice art initiatives: the "ENGLISH KILLS PROJECT" (Brooklyn, NY); "L.O.C.C.A.: Law Office Center for Citizenship and Art" (Houston, TX); and the recently conceived "BioArt Bayou-torium" (Houston, TX). He will describe how each project shares the aesthetic experience and the creative process with collaborators, participants and the audience. Sanchez proposes how a shared, internal and intrinsic artistic experience can create and promote a greater sense of fulfilled citizenship. At the end of the presentation he will perform a microscope demonstration simultaneously projected on screen and accompanied with a recorded piano composition by Matteo Ramon Arevalos.
Dear fellow residents of the 145th Texas State Representative District,
Our district runs along I-45 in south Houston from beltway 8, to the East End 2nd Ward, to downtown Houston, through the 6th ward and south of I-10. This has been a long campaign and the runoff for the seat vacated by Rep. Alvarado is today. I voted for the person most knowledgeable about the issues and the policies that affect us, whether we are citizens or not, of all genders. I urge you to go out and vote today. Many people of color, low income, immigrant backgrounds had to fight for our place to participate in the franchise that comprises citizenship. There are many people today who wish to take those hard fought rights back, especially in the State legislature. Do not disappoint ourselves and reassure our adversaries. Make it a big turnout at the polls. VOTE TODAY! #eastendhtx #2ndward

A night of philosophy and ideas at the Moody Center. With keynote by Laurie Anderson and Timothy Morton, 15 min philisophical presentations about the environment, climate change, art, love, ad hoc discourses, along with videos, art installations, a brass band, dance troup, and an appearance by Climate Elvis. The 15 minute presentations were my favorite. #philosophy
Common Field came to Houston to talk to all the different arts orgs about the opportunities, ideas and challenges of the art community in Houston and what make Houston artists and art so unique from the rest of the country. Not sure what's to come from this....
